Hi Claire, some useful comments came out of your project discussion today. The grid is a useful thing to look at but as Sue Evans pointed out it is spatially in direct opposition to the idea of network, as in transport network. This could be a productive opposition.
I would suggest that your next move would be to make a mock up version, taking just a small amount of data and mapping it in relation to one grid unit. Try mapping it different ways to see how the construction of the map operates.
I think this would be useful to bring next week when we discuss the projects with the planning students.
